Newcomer Melissa Ungar covers classics and
donates money to charity

Melissa Ungar, a newcomer to the music scene, is a must listen. With her debut CD released in 2006 called Checkered Past, Melissa is doing quite well. The CD features a selection of Melissa's favourite songs which she has done covers of. Classic songs by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, legendary Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Elvis Costello, and others are performed beautifully by Ungar, who brings a fresh and soulful flare to every track on the album. Not only has Ungar produced and recorded her first album, but she is an active volunteer for VoicePrint, a media charity organization. VoicePrint allows those who cannot independently access media printwork due to physical impairments such as blindness to do so by having volunteers read to them from a wide variety of newspapers and magazines. Due to her dedication in volunteering, Melissa was named ' Volunteer of the Month' for January 2007 at VoicePrint as she not only volunteers as a reader but also donates a portion of her album sales to the VoicePrint charity.
